High Tension Power Lines
Florida

Camping at Twin Lakes RV Resort near Fort Lauderdale, we got shocks when we touched the truck while standing on the ground in bare feet. I thought we might have had a short in the truck, but the high tension overhead wires made me suspicious. So I took my voltmeter and stuck the black lead in the ground, and the red lead I touched to the truck. It registered consistently between 5 and 6 volts AC. When I checked the DC voltage, it was zero. Also, when I check the voltage at other locations, not near power lines, it also registers zero. In any case, we decided not to stay too long.
