Round Oak E20 Wood Stove

Round Oak E20 Wood Stove Project
=================================================

We purchased a 1906 "Round Oak" E20 parlor stove in a little town Southwest of Mt. Pleasant. It was manufactured by the Estate of P.D. Beckwith. Round Oak also made hundreds of models of cookstoves for almost 50 years. After P.D. Beckwith died in 1889, Round Oak was incorporated as the Estate of P.D. Beckwith. Beginning with the B-model stove in 1898, most stoves had 'Estate of P.D. Beckwith' cast in it. The E20 model that we have was manufactured in Dowagiac Michigan in 1906, and from that year until the 1950's it was used to heat a General Store in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. For the past few years it was used as a decoration piece in Mid-Michigan. These stoves were considered "high end" in their day, and were very popular. They have become a collectors item.

The first photos show the completely disassembled the stove. We we so glad that the wood stove is in very good condition. Being mostly Cast Iron, it is very heavy, we think around 350 lbs total. We restored it as best we can, and we have been burning wood in the family room of our new home on Long Lake.
